Dear Parents and Students,
The fifth wave of COVID has hit our city in hard ways. We are under the great pressure of the epidemic effects. The worsening Covid-19 infections has shredded Hong Kong’s long-standing rule book on testing, quarantine, treatment and discharge from hospitals. Following by the announcement of ‘Early Summer Vacation’ by the government, students have been asked to stay home and take their early summer break. Usually, summer vacation gives students an impression of being energetic, lively and relaxed, particularly for outdoor activities. Unfortunately, the vacation is totally another story this time. To follow the anti-epidemic measures, students are required to stay home so as to avoid close contact from crowds and cross infections. The long-stay at home undoubtedly can cause emotional stress, mentally exhaustion and even psychologically-unpleasant feelings. In this period, a warm support from each other is assuredly a good remedy. Why do we just focus on something we miss but not something we gain? During the stay at home, we may not only give ourselves more personal and private time to think and recall what we have done for the previous months. It can also let us plan what we can achieve for the coming months.
During the Special Vacation, CYMCASS would like to provide students with interesting activities to help them walk through the epidemic period. A ‘Walking With You’ (WWY) program has launched since the start of the vacation. Like what the title suggests, we organize different online activities for students to join in a free setting. Despite of the closure of school, students can still connect with teachers and continue their learning in an interesting approach.
I was glad to see students join the prayer meeting. They praised the Lord with beautiful hymns. They prayed sincerely through the online connection although they did not meet face-to-face. It was also good seeing students attend different activities to keep their spirit of learning and being active with the connection to the outside world. The Basic Navigation Knowledge was one of the popular talks in the WWY program shared by me. Even it was overrun from the original schedule, the audience stayed till the end of showing their interest in knowing something about aviation knowledge and related information they might not have learnt before. The purpose of organizing the talk was to provide participants with updated development of aviation as a generally-known knowledge, but also it planted a seed of inspiration for encouraging them the importance and significance of getting hold of dreams. I also appreciate teachers who organized interesting activities with their talents and hobbies in the WWY program that makes the ‘Special Vacation’ really a unique and meaningful one.
We do not know when the epidemic will end but we have confidence in the providence of God.
‘’May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
